The present invention provides an authentication system for application card registration. A terminal drives an application card application in which an authentication system is installed, and comprises: a sensor to detect a card to acquire card identification information corresponding to the card if user authentication is requested in an application card registration process according to execution of the application card application; a communication unit to transmit input information inputted by a user in the application card registration process and the card identification information to a card company server instructed by the application card application, and receive whether user authentication is successful from the card company server; and a processor to proceed with the application card registration process if a user authentication success is received.
