<p>A transmission assembly (10) for transmitting drive between a drive shaft (12) and a driven shaft (14), the transmission assembly including a first differential unit (18) having an input for connection to the drive shaft and two outputs (30,32), and a second differential unit (20) having two inputs and an output for connection to the driven shaft, a first output (30) of the first unit being drivingly connected to the first input of the second unit (20) and a second output (32) of the first unit being drivingly connected to the second input of the second unit, restraining means (54) for permitting the first output (30) and first input to rotate only in one direction, and control means (100) for controlling the speed of rotation of the second output (32) and second input so as to contrnl the speed of rotation of the output (14) of the second unit (20) relive to the speed of rotation of the input (12) of the first unit (18).</p> |
