In a method for operating a waste collection tank (102), improved emptying performance can be obtained by controlling interaction of a vacuum applied to the tank and the operation of a conveyor means (113) provided in a bottom section (114) of the tank. To accomplish this, detection of a flow of transport air through the tank as well as the level of the applied vacuum is performed at a preset time after applying the vacuum. The detected air flow and vacuum level are compared with predetermined threshold values and operation of the conveyor means is controlled based on the result of the detection. |
