The clamping tongs of a standing fixture for the welding and/or setting of separate rodlike articles, which are loaded one by one manually, on to other workpieces, have a recess extending through them. At its end turned away from the workpiece, the recess opens into a feeder channel with a funnel-shaped inlet. The details to be welded are dropped into this and at the workpiece end, in front of the tongs there is a movable stop. The stop is an angle lever which can pivot on its first leg so that in one position the second leg is in front of the tongs and in the other position is along-side the tongs. The tongs, the feed channel and the feed opening are in line vertically. Welding is effected by a capacitor discharge and the components are held in the clamps which can be displaced from the loading to the welding or setting position. The device is without complicated fittings which are usual on automatic machines for very large numbers of one type of assembly. It can also be loaded continually by hand with needle-like objects, without the risk of injury. |
