<p>PURPOSE:To make small the device, by reducing the capacity of pickup device at the 1st read-in section, through the provision of the 1st read-in section, having a fixed read-in sight of a given width to the object to be read in, 2nd read-in section having a given width of moving read-in sight, and character area discriminating section. CONSTITUTION:The 1st read-in section 1 provided along the carrying direction (a) of mails P, has a given width of fixed read-in sight to the mail P, and this fixed read-in sight is set under the lower end of the mail P. On the other hand, the 2nd read-in section 11 provided along the carrying direction (a) of the mail P has a given width of moving read-in sight to the mail P, and this moving read- in sight is set to the upper side, center and lower side of the mail P respectively according to the turning position of the moving mirror 13. Further, the character area discrimination section 20 discriminates the character area on the mail P with the output of the pickup device 2 of the 1st read-in section 1, and controls the turning of the moving mirror 13 at the 2nd read-in section 11 according to the result of discrimination, and the read-in sight position of the 2nd read-in section 11 is set.</p> |
