<p>PURPOSE:To make low the scanning drive frequency of the 1st read-in section to the pickup device and to reduce the number of bits of pickup, by lowering the resolution of the 1st read-in section. CONSTITUTION:The 1st read-in section 1 provided along the carrying direction (a) of mail P optically reads in the scans the entire mail P. On the other hand, the 2nd read-in section 11 provided along the carrying direction (a) of mail P reads in and scans on the mail P with a given width of sight. In this case, the 1st read- in section 11 detects the character area on the mail P, and the resolution of the 1st read-in section 1 is set lower to the degree that the character position on the mail P can be detected, and it is lower than the resolution of the 2nd read-in section 11 by several fractions reading in the characters on the mail P. That is, the scanning frequency to the pickup device 2 is set lower and the pickup device 2 has less number of bits.</p> |
