Elastic buffers (12, 13) limit balance beam (6) rotation, this obviating short lived springs and imparting reciprocal transverse motion to the cut. The buffers (12, 13) are on the same side of the balance beam (6) but on opposed sides of its fulcrum (7). Forces are transmitted from buffer (12 or 13) to balance arm (6) by a stop member (16) which is fixed adjustably to the beam. This stop is an angle iron bolted using elongated slots; and alternatively the beam can be fixed to a sub-frame mounted movable carriage. To effect a cut the operator presses lever (11), causing the balance beam to bear progressively on buffer (13).
|
