PURPOSE:To protect a photosensitive body from damage by a method wherein each apparatus is made inoperative and a cleaning sheet is electrostatically attracted to the photosensitive body and is passed along the scanning surface of a reproducing means to clean the scanning surface by merely changing over the recorder to a cleaning mode by a controlling circuit. CONSTITUTION:When the recorder is changed over to the cleaning mode, the attachment apparatus such as a toner developing device 3 are brought into an inoperative condition, and when a photosensitive drum 1 starts to rotate, the cleaning sheet A is fed from a magazine 8 and is attracted to the pheripheral surface of the drum 1 electrified by a corona electrifier 2. The sheet A has a rugged surface. When the sheet A is passed along the scanning surface 3a of the reproducing means by rotating the drum 1, the toner on the scanning surface 3a is wiped away and the surface 3a is cleaned. Thereafter, the sheet A is separated from the drum 1 by a separating electrode 5. Further, a magazine, a tray and the like for exclusive use with the cleaning sheet may also be provided. |
