<p>Glycidyl ethers of formula (I), being 1-A-(B)-O-2,3-epoxy- propane derivs., are new (where B is a single bond or an alkylene or alkenylene group and A is an opt. substd. homocyclic or heterocyclic group, with the condition that when B is a bond and A is a 5-8C monocyclic radical, then A is a least mono-substd.). (I) where A-B-O is cyclohexylmethoxy, cyclohex-3-enyloxy, 2-isopropyl 5-methyl cyclohexyloxy, 2-pivaloyl-cyclopropyl methoxy, 2-methyl-cyclohexyloxy, 2-(6,6-dimethyl -bicyclo (3,1,1)-hept-2-enyl)-ethoxy, 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-1-naphthyloxy, 3-methyl-benzyloxy, alpha-naphthyl-methoxy, phenyl-propoxy, 2-indanyloxy, ortho-methoxy-benzyloxy, meta-methoxy-benzyloxy, para-methoxy-benzyloxy, meta-benzyloxy-benzyloxy, 3-phenyl-prop-2-enyloxy, 3,4,5-trimethoxy-benzyloxy, 3,4-dichloro-benzyloxy, furfuryloxy, tetrahydro pyran-2-yl-methoxy, 1,4-benzodiaxon-2-yl-methoxy, 3-tetrahydro-furyloxy, 2-thienyloxy, 2-(1-methyl-pyrrolidin-2-yl) -ethoxy, 2-(4-methyl thiazol-5-yl)-ethoxy, 2,2-dimethyl- 1,3-dioxolan-4-ylmethoxy, 2-piperidino ethoxy, 3-pyridyl-methoxy and the N-oxide, 2-morpholino ethoxy, 2-(4-phenyl piperazino)-ethoxy and 3-indolylmethoxy. Pharmaceutical intermediates e.g. (I) may be reacted with primary amines, R-NH2 (IV) (where R is lower alkyl), to form beta-blockers used to treat cardiac troubles.</p> |
