<p>The mechanism is intended for precision boring a pre-drilled bore to obtain a bore other than cylindrical, e.g. for optimising the bore contour for the gudgeon pin bearing in an i.c. engine piston. To this end the drill spindle (2) is adjustable at an angle to and/or parallel relative to the rotational axis of the drilling machine. The spindle may be carried in at least two radial bearings (5,6) which are independently adjustable in radial direction. This may be effected by admitting controlled oil pressure to pockets (7) in one bearing bush and to pockets (8) in the spindle portion carried in the other bearing (6).</p> |
