Two stroke IC engine - has direct fuel injection after exhaust port has closed

The two-stroke internal combustion engine has an inlet valve (5), a transfer duct (6) and exhaust port (12). Fuel is supplied by injector (1) directly into the cylinder and ignited by spark plug (2). A throttle (7) and lubricating oil feed (8) are fitted in the inlet duct. Pure air is drawn into the cylinder through the transfer duct (6) and fuel is injected only when the exhaust port (12) has closed. Losses of unburnt mixture to exhaust are prevented and improved fuel economy is obtained.
