The spindle, protruding from a closing block on a fixed mounting, and held under the influence of a return spring and damper, has a closing arm seated on it for connection to the door, in a closing mechanism at the top of a door. Between spindle (10) and block (4) there is a notching device (12), brought out of engagement by activation of the closing arm (8). One or more pins (36, 38), to engage an end face trough (58) in the notching element (44), may be located on the arm. The notching device is virtually out of sight, and corresponds to the opening setting of the door.
