The transformer has a head enclosing windings, mounted on top of a ribbed insulator column (1) with a hollow interior through which pass the connecting wires (38) for the secondary windings. The bottom of the insulator is enclosed by a collar which rests on a supporting plate (15) and secured by bolts. The plate is supported by feet (19) and in the space between the feet is a cylindrical extension (20) forming a chamber (27) closed by a lower plate (25). This chamber has a section (23) containing an annular filter (24). The supporting plate (15) has holes (26) through it communicating with the interior of the insulator and the head. The filter chamber is located between this plate and a ring (21) added to the extension (20). The latter carries an external junction box (40) for the connecting leads (39) which are attached to wires secured to contact strips embedded in the lower plate, which is of plastics material.
