A cooler/mixer for hot PVC mixes is a jacketted double- bottom vessel in which there are 1 or more partitions or false floors, above each of which there is a mixing device. Each partition has 1 or more openings through which the compsn. passes to the next stage. The openings in the different partitions are displaced w.r.t. each other, pref. by 270-315 deg- in the direction of revolution of the mixing device. The cooling action of the floor of the vessel is better utilised. The contact time between the compsn. and the cooling elements is increased. The interior of the appts. is easily accessible for cleaning.
