<p>The fuel injection nozzle (1) for an internal combustion engine has provision for pilot injection of an easily ignitable fuel, supplied through connection (7), followed by the main injection of another fuel, supplied at connection (6). The main fuel flows through duct (8) to the high pressure fuel passage (9) which is controlled by needle valve (3). Needle valve (3) has an axial hole (14) leading to restrictor hole (15) which enters the main fuel passage just upstream of the needle valve seat (3.2). The pilot fuel is supplied through holes (14,15). It forms a plug near the valve seat and is injected when the valve opens through the injection pulse in the mains fuel supply.</p> |
