The mechanism adjusts a pressure-operated setting member, the latter being in the form of a piston rod (17) of a displacement piston (12). The piston protrudes into the chamber of a hydraulic cylinder (11), and is moved outwards in opposition to an external force. The piston rod can work in a return cylinder (16), exerting the external force and mounted on the end of the hydraulic cylinder. The return cylinder can be pneumatically operated, and there can be an annular space (14) between the displacement piston and the inner wall of the hydraulic cylinder.
