The transformer, mounted on a cable which forms the primary, has a ring-shaped hollow core carrying the secondary winding. The core is mounted between two discs made of flexible insulating material e.g. rubber, through which the cable passes. Each disc has a set of radial cuts so as to form six resilient tongues. Where the cable passes through, these tongues are bent outwards so as to grip the cable. To increase the resilience, each cut can terminate in a hole at its outer end. In alternative designs, four radial cuts can be used, which may be straight, or helically curved. Another design has one continuous helical slot.
|
