The bolted joint tightening and release mechanism uses a motor drive with quasi-static torque, having a rotor shaft turning in a housing with a stator and coupled to one half of the joint. The stator (3) of the motor can also turn in the housing (1), and is coupled to the other half of the joint. The rotor shaft (4) can have a socket spanner head (7) by which it engages with the end of the bolt (5) opposite to the head of the latter (5a), while the stator has a concentric box spanner (8) round the head and fitting over the nut (6).
