The video signal processing system for copying or facsimile apparatus includes a scanning and storage system, the stored signals being used to control the movement of the material being copied. A magnetic tape is used to store the scanned signals. The signals are transferred to the tape by using a redundancy reduction system and a coding system such as is used in telecommunications. This code can be the Huffmann code. The tape can be an endless tape. The scanning lines for the copy material are entered in the tracks on the tape for selective and simultaneous reading and sorting of several originals carrying the material.
