The distribution box, housing a very large number of cable connections and suitable for telephone systems, has a frame at the rear with two spaced apart vertical angles (5) in front of a space containing the cables. Secured by hinges (7) to extensions on these angles is a vertical plate (2) with one end (3) bent at an angle. This end carries a system of terminal tags (4) around which the conductor wires of the multiple core cables are wrapped. The hinged plate is swung forwards for access to the tags, leaving room for a tool (10) to be inserted to make the connections, and also to bend the cables round into position. The other face of the plate carries a vertical support with clips (13) along it to anchor the ends of the cables. This face also carries buffers to engage the interior of the cabinet. After completion, the plate can be swung back concealing the cables and the connections.
