The horizontal deep-drilling machine comprises a horizontally movable spindle (8) head (6). The spindle drives a tube (10) carrying the boring tool (12), a guide bush carrier (16) for the tube, a bed (2) supporting the head (6) and the carrier, and a workpiece (18) support (20) with horizontal support surface. The tool and the support are movable relative to each other in vertical direction and horizontally at right angles to the tube axis. A cup-shaped member (80), coaxial to the tube axis, can be pressed by a cylinder (76) with its open end against the rear of the workpiece so that drilling fluid pressure and flow via the tool are maintained, when the tool breaks through.
