<p>Blast furnace coke is made of hard coal of low coking quality by grinding, preheating, mixing with binders, compacting and carbonizing in an oven chamber. The preferred binder is the distillation residue of crude oil, emulsified in water, and used as admixture to the preheated coal charge. The coal is preheated to a temp. where, after admixture of the binder emulsion, the temp. in the mixture exceeds 100 deg.C. This results in a higher stability of the coal blend and of the resulting coke cake.</p> |
