The absorber is intended for use with a liquid heat-transfer medium, which is guided into direct contact with one or more sheets of metal, or other material, mounted close together. The sheets can be held apart by a grille between them, or alternatively by a series of embossed portions on their faces towards each other, forming a system of passages between them. As a further alternative, a coating of mineral or fibrous material can be used, forming a pattern of intervening passages, these running parallel to each other. This material is typically of good thermal conductivity.
