The tool carrier (1;2,3') has a bore (5) to receive the cylindrical end of a tool holder (6) and an annular end face (4), on which a collar (7) on the tool holder bears. The external diameter of the annual end face is smaller than that of the collar. This end face projects axially from the face (3) of a larger-diameter flange (3') of the carrier. The flange face is provided with outlet orifices (8,9) for cleaning fluid adjacent to the outer diameter of the raised flange face. The orifices may receive the fluid via an annular groove (10) in the flange rim covered by a peripheral ring (12).
