PURPOSE:To reduce the side lobe and at the same time simplify the constitution of an electric circuit, by forming the oscillators into the oblong slips to dispose them into a linear or curved surface form and then providing a cylindrical acoustic lens. CONSTITUTION:The oscillators 11-1n are excited successively by a control circuit 8 and a transmission/reception circuit 5 and via a scan switch 4, and thus the ultrasonic wave is transmitted. The transmitted ultrasonic waves are refracted so that they are converted in the direction of thickness by the function of the lens 2, and furthermore refracted to be converged in the direction of scan by the function of the lens 3. The ultrasonic wave echo is received by the oscillator and then displayed on the cathode ray tube 7 as a pickup signal via the circuit 5, amplifier/ wave detector 6 and circuit 8, respectively. |
