The process is of the type comprising a first stage for obtaining a plastisol, a second stage for moulding the said plastisol resulting in an embryo being obtained, and a third stage of expanding the embryo. In the first stage a charge of inorganic particles whose dimensions are between 0.5 and 500 microns is introduced into the mixture. An expanded rigid polyvinyl chloride of high specific weight can be produced by this process.
