<p>An alignment checking and measuring apparatus for vehicle frame and body portions including two or more measurement scale carriers (2). One of the measurement scale carriers (2) has targets (5) movably mounted on opposite end portions (15) of the carriers (2) and another of the measurement scale carriers (2) has sighting instruments (4), such as laser beam emitting instruments, mounted on the end portions. In use, the measurement scale carriers (2) are longitudinally spaced from each other and mounted transversely of the vehicle (6) by connectors (3). Longitudinally aligning the sighting instruments (4) with the targets (5) facilitates determination and correction of any damaged or misalignment condition in the vehicle frame and body. Comparison is made of the deviation, if any, in the parallelism of the lines of sight created by the longitudinally aligned targets (5) and sighting instruments (4). Angular deviation of the lines of sight to symmetrical points on the vehicle frame and body tends to indicate damage or misaligned conditions.</p> |
