PURPOSE:To realize a highly accurate detection for both the position of defect and the pattern and ensure a discrimination between a defect and noise, by giving the rock to a probe from the four faces. CONSTITUTION:A flaw detection is carried out for the eintire cross section of the object 1 to be inspected by radiating an ultrasonic beam while giving the rock to the probe through the probes provided on the four faces with a prescribed distance l secured from the object 1. Thus a detection is given to the presence or absence of a defect as well as the position and form of the defect. Then the angle theta of inclination of the probe, the beam distance up to the surface of the object 1 and the beam distance from the surface of the object 1 to the defect are detected with every moment. Thus the coordinates of both the surface of the object 1 and the defect are calculated, and then both the position from the surface of the object 1 to the defect and the form of the defect can be detected in a high accuracy by combining the coordinates. Then both the position and form of the defect can be detected in a high accuracy on the cross section of the object 1 through a combination of the four faces. At the same time, a discrimination is possible between the defect and the noise based on the degree of coincidence among the electric signals obtained from the four faces. |
