PURPOSE:To readily obtain a visible picture by bringing a heated object such as a thermal head, which can be heated, into contact with a recording medium under pressure. CONSTITUTION:A recording layer 1 is provided on a substrate 2 of paper, polyvinyl chloride or the like. When a heatable object such as a thermal head is heated and brought into contact with said recording medium under pressure to heat the recording layer 1, the oxidizing agent is liberated from the developer in the recording layer 1, and by said oxidizing agent, the color former is oxidized to develop color, so that a directly visible picture can be obtained. Moreover, when said recording layer 1 is irradiated with light, the fixing agent in the irradiated portion becomes a reducing agent, which inactivates the developer, so that if heat is applied thereafter, the color developing reaction will not proceed. Accordingly, the visible picture is fixed, so that a permanent picture can be obtained. In addition, a protecting film layer 3 of polyethylene or the like is provided in order to prevent the color development or the like due to scratching friction, improve the solvent resistance of the recording layer surface and prevent it from contamination. |
