PURPOSE:To increase both the circuit efficiency and the speed of job execution for a system having a connection via a serial circuit, by carrying out a data communication among the input/output devices set on a table and when the prescribed conditions are satisfied. CONSTITUTION:The main controller 50 controls successively the specified input/ output devices in a certain sequence and based on a job program and thus executes a series of prescribed processes. A table is provided to store the prescribed input/ output device along with its address that has no participation in a series of prescribed processes mentioned above. Then a transmission/reception of data is carried out only among the input/output devices 71-74 which are controlled by an step instruction and in correspondence to each step of the job program for the specified input/output devices that are controlled successively and in a certain sequence. While the input/output devices 75 and 76 that have no participation in a series of processors based on the job program receive a scan in accordance with the data communication with the above-mentioned specified input/output devices. Accordingly the interruption factors given from the input/output devices having no participation in the series of processes can be put into the controller 50 during the scanning.
