PURPOSE:To provide an electrophotographic receptor using a novel photoconductive substance obtd. by the thermal decomposition of a polymer contg. methacrylonitrile units. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotographic sensitive material is manufactured using a novel photoconductive substance obtd. by the thermal decomposition of polymethacrylonitrile or a methacrylonitrile-contg. copolymer at 100-230 deg.C together with a binder or using the substance as a material for forming an optical charge generating layer. EFFECT:The photoconductive substance can be manufactured at a lower temp. as compared to the manufacture by the thermal decomposition of an acrylonitrile- contg. polymer. The resulting thermal decomposition product is readily soluble in solvent. The photoconductive compound can be manufactured as well by forming a layer contg. a methacrylonitrile-contg. polymer on a heat resistant support and heating it to the thermal decomposition temp. |
