PURPOSE:To prepare the titled substance in an industrial scale, by culturing bacteria capable of assimilating ethanol and producing and accumulating L-methionine, and belonging to Acinetobacter genus in a medium containing ethanol as a carbon source. CONSTITUTION:Bacteria capable of assimilating ethanol and producing and accumulating L-methionine and belonging to Acinetrobacter genus, e.g. Acinetobacter calcoaceticum YK-1013 (FERM-P No.5442) are cultured aerobically in a medium containing ethanol as a carbon source, a nitrogen source, vitamins, inorganic salts, etc., and the produced L-methionine is recovered from the cultured product by conventional process such as ion exchange method, active carbon adsorption, etc. |
