PRODUCTION OF CATALYTIC BODY FOR PURIFICATION OF WASTE GAS

PURPOSE:To produce a catalytic body for purification of waste gases, which is useful for combustion apparatus for home etc. and is of a long life, by forming a titanium oxide layer on the surface of a solid contg. calcium aluminate and carrying a catalyst on this carrier. CONSTITUTION:Coating of about 0.05-10wt% titanium oxide by weight of solid is formed on the surface of a solid consisting of calcium aluminate such as alumina cement as its main raw material by coating a slurry of titanium oxide on said surfaces and heat-treating the same or doing other. A catalyst such as platinum group metals is carried on this titanium oxide layer. By this method, the catalytic body of high activity and poisoning characteristic and high performance is produced into arbitrary shapes at ordinary temp. This catalytic body is used for petroleum stoves, table roasters and the like.
