PURPOSE:To make the blanking work of battery plates smoother, by preblanking, among the contour configurations of a plate for storage battery, protruded portions such as plate lugs only along their bent and/or curved profiles and then blanking the remaining contour configurations to separate the plate from a web. CONSTITUTION:Using an unillustrated prepressing/blanking die, a die-cut 3a is formed in advance along the contour configurations of a plate lug 2a, in other words, along its rugged edges extending from its tip to its bases. Then, a die-cut 3b of the remaining contour configurations is formed along a blanking phantom line by a pressing/blanking die. Here, the four corners of the contour configurations are preferably formed into rounded corner portions 3b. In the above manner, a blanked preform 2 can be smoothly separated from a web 1 without catching the pressing/blanking die at its protruded portions 2a. |
