The journal bearing uses rollers (2) to transfer radial shaft (5) loads to the bore (1a) of a sleeve (1). The rollers are located at regular intervals on a shaft (5) circumference by a cage (4) with slot-holes (8). Their dia. is nominally less than the difference between the shaft (5) and sleeve (1) radii. At least three regularly distributed rollers (3) are hollow, are a tight radially stressed fit in the axial interval, and deform elastically under load to bring adjacent rollers into play. One roller may have a lesser axial length than the solid rollers obviating bearing chatter.
