<p>The thermo-insulating casing (3) is used on flexible pipe steam feeds and comprises a uniformly thick rectangular mattress stuffed with glass fibre (4). The case is of glass fibre fabric (4), which is gathered and folded at the longitudinal edges to accommodate a laced joint with overlap. The folds form continuous jointing tongues (11,12) and an overlap tongue (10). The former (11,12) includes eyelets (13)and being inset relative to the edge (6) by a distance nominally equal to their outstand. The tongue is of such a size to fit between one of the jointing tongues (12) and the case barrel. All the tongues (10,11,12) may be fashioned by stitching or gluing with elastomeric silicon. The casing may incorporate two layers (9,15) of reflective aluminium sheet.</p> |
