The mechanism is intended for producing rotor and stator laminations for an electric motor. It comprises a station which feeds the blanks from a supply to a station where they are aligned and then passed to a slot punching station after which the punched rotor and stator laminations are deposited at positions and respectively and then stacked to form rotors and stators. The aligning station is coupled to a circular punching press which may be swivelable and may be provided with a marking tool to punch a notch in the periphery of the lamination. The station can employ aligning elements.
