The strap is made from plastics and has a corrugated surface along its length with sloping edges and flat top and bottom sections. The thickness of the sections is constant. The packing sections are applied by a roller fitted with the same profile as the strip. The end of the strip is in contact with a welding strip (8) along the length of the roller and parallel to the strip (2). The corrugations have equal sections and equal thickness.
