An upholstery composite for spring seats of automobiles consists of polyurethane foam and a non-woven based upon polyester fibres bonded to this foam. Preferably, the foam is 10-30 (15-25) mm thick and the non-woven 0.2-3 (0.5-2.5) mm. thick. In a preferred embodiment the foam projects at opposite or all four sides beyond the non-woven and a portion of the non-woven remains unbonded to the foam at the edges so that it can be folded back and fitted around the metal frame. The non-woven pref. contains venting holes at intervals, more specifically for the stitching in of short pipes. As a replacement for the heavier, previously used material for the upholstering of automobile seats containing steel springs. The new material is lighter than the normally used fibrous material, rubber material or latex-bonded coconut fibrous material combined with polyurethane foam and textile covering. It nevertheless possesses the necessary tearing strength and comfort.
|
