An arrangement for measurement of surface tension by feeding a sample of liquid into the region of a pressure node of a standing ultrasonic wave enables the advantages of dynamic measurement methods to be achieved with economical continuous measurement. The device may be used in a portable mode for rapid measurement, esp. with liquids whose qualities are variable. The liq. is fed in in the form of a liq. beam whose velocity amplitude is continuously increased in the modes until the beam separates. The separation velocity amplitude is the measure of the surface tension. It is increased by raising the ultrasonic generator (7) power or transmitter (3) amplitude for constant gar density or pressure. These values can be used as the measure of surface tension.
