Security system for works of art - uses base screwed to table with built alarm switch that triggers if removed

A security alarm system is designed to prevent the theft of works of art e.g. paintings, statues etc. The work of art (5) is secured to a base (3) by a number of screws (4). The security device is in the form of a switch (12) that is triggered if the object and its base are removed from a table (1). The combined object and base is held on the table by screws (9) that hold an inset block down. A cap (10) provides a cover for the screw hole. The switch (12) in the form of a reed relay or similar device, has a connecting wire (13) that passes to the alarm circuit. The wire also connects with the retaining screws. If the screws are turned the wire breaks and the alarm is triggered. A number of variations are considered.
