Colour CRT HV connector - has sleeve holding taper plug with blades forced against cable by tube enclosing damping resistance

The h.v. connection for a colour t.v. tube uses a screening tube for a damping resistance, with a screening cap at one end and a clamping device at the other end. This device has a conical sleeve (11) which fits round the end (3) of the screening tube, and with a hole at the other end for the connecting cable. Inside the sleeve is fitted a tapered locking plug (10). The tapered end of this plug fits inside the tapered interior of the sleeve, and carries a number of vanes (15) separated by slots, which grip the insulation (6) of the cable (7) tightly. The plug is of a harder material than that of the cable insulation, and its vanes are forced inwards by the open tapered end of the screening tube as they enter it. An alternative design has a parallel bore inside the sleeve, but the locking plug is again tapered.
