The clutch has release levers (22) carried by a ring (18) which is in threaded engagement with the cover (14) to permit wear-compensating adjustment. The ring is normally locked in position by a locking plate (70) which is bolted to the end of the cover. It includes a detent engageable with lugs (82) on the ring and arms (84) assisting dynamic balancing of the clutch. The plate may be of sheet, cast or sintered metal and may be an original fitting of the clutch or installed in place of an original self-adjusting fitting.
