The invention relates to the preparation of coating materials having a finish effect based on UP resins by the reversal process. The products obtained are used for surface finishing in furniture making. The upper side of a decorative paper is coated with a UP lacquer, and the reverse side is impregnated with a UP impregnating resin. The cured lacquer film is coated with polyethylene wax. The web is then wound up in a known manner and cured in the roll following the low-temperature curing principle. The polyethylene wax coating according to the invention prevents the UP resin components applied to both sides from sticking together, allowing the release coating systems otherwise required in the process to be omitted.
