The backwash closure assembly is used for continuous pipe ducts. An attachable housing unit has a connecting flange (4) surrounding its inflow aperture, and a top cleaning aperture (2), and accommodates a backwash seal, comprising a valve seat and float. The valve seat (5) is an inset unit, separate from the housing (1), and insertable in it through the inflow aperture (3). It can have a fixing flange, for setting on the housing flange, and a piece of pipe protruding from this into the housing, with downward-sloping end serving as valve seat.
