IC engine operational control - uses peak combustion pressure in cylinder as control parameter during cold starting

An internal combustion engine is controlled during the cold starting period by measuring the peak combustion pressure in the cylinders. This parameter is used to control the mixture strength, ignition timing and exhaust gas recirculation rate. The method gives improved control over the engine working cycle during the warm-up period. Reduced exhaust gas emission and lower fuel consumption is obtained.
