<p>PURPOSE:A mixed hydrogen absorbing agent, suitable for a heat pump system with a large amount of occluded hydrogen, a high reaction rate and a slight hysteretic phynomenon, and consisting of a Misch metal -Ni alloy and a Ti-Zr-Mn alloy. CONSTITUTION:A hydrogen absorbing agent prepare by mixing (A) 60-95mol% powdery Misch metal-Ni alloy, e.g. MmNi5 or MmNi4.9Al0.1, having the atomic composition ratio corresponding to formula I (0<=x<=0.5) and (B) 40-5mol% powdery Ti-Zr-Mn alloy, e.g. Ti0.5Zr0.5Mn1.95Cu0.05 or Ti0.6Zr0.4Mn1.9Cu0.1, having the atomic composition ratio corresponding to formula II (0.3<=y<=0.5; 0<=z<=0.3). The hydrogen absorbing agent can be readily activated by evacuating the agent to 10<-2>Torr at room temperature, injecting hydrogen thereinto to 30atm, and repeating the operations several times. The hydrogen absorbing agent has a heat of formation as great as 6.7-7.0kcal/mol -H2 and an amount of occluded hydrogen as large as 160-185ml/g (standard stage) per unit weight.</p> |
