PURPOSE:To obtain a lubricant for the cold rolling of steel, having improved lubricity and annealing property, by adding a dibasic acid ester to a lubricant composed of a mineral oil, a fatty acid, a monoester, and a natural fat. CONSTITUTION:A lubricant composed of one or more of a mineral oil, a fatty acid, a monoester, and a natural fat is mixed with 10-60wt% dibasic acid ester of the formula (CH2)n(COOR)2, obtained from an alcohol of the formula ROH (wherein R is a C8-C18 alkyl) and a dibasic acid of the formula (CH2)n(COOH)2 (wherein n is 1-6). If n of the formula of the said dibasic acid is 0, its ester is liable to hydrolyze and is thus unsuitable as lubricant, and also if n exceeds 6, the molecular weight of the diester becomes too large and its annealing proprerty is thus lowered. Also, if alcohol with C8 or lower alkyl group is used, its diester with a dibasic acid becomes smaller in molecular weight and its lubricity is lowered. Also, if alcohol with C18 or higher alkyl group is used, annealing property is deteriorated. |
