The arrangement is intended for cross-cutting a continuously moving length of material. It comprises a rotary cutting cylinder with feed rollers upstream and a mechanism to brake the movement of the cut sheets before they are deposited on a stack. This mechanism comprises at least one brake roller (19) driven by a rotating shaft (10) and a shaft (11) carrying a roller (16) with a cam (14) e.g. a brush which rotates synchronously with the sheet movement to press each sheet against the roller (19). The shaft (10) carries at least one freely rotatable support roller (20) facing a transparent roller (15) fixed on the shaft (11). This roller (15) has a peripheral recess which is axially aligned with the cam.
