<p>The device is used for roughening ice-covered paths or forecourts, or similar small areas. It has a container for salt, sand or similar, and is operated and carried by people on foot. One or more apertures (2a) are shaped so as to be form-retentive, zones of the part (2) of the container (1) from which material is shaken out. These are positioned for easy, evenly distributed sprinkling of trickling material (4), of average size, in set ratio to the material granular size and desired density of scatter. Edge zones can be in the shape of funnels (26), tapering outwards. This is simple and inexpensive, and permits smooth, even and automatic spreading.</p> |
